The South Africa National Cricket Team player Tristan Stubbs grabbed an absolutely terrific catch to end the historic innings of the India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson in the first T20I of the four-match series.
Notably, Tristan Stubbs took a perfectly judged catch near the boundary ropes to dismiss Sanju Samson at the Kingsmead in Durban on Friday, November 8 and helped his team come back in the game.
The India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson looked class apart in the series opener against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
He started off aggressively with the bat, and despite losing his partner Abhishek Sharma early on in the innings, he kept going. Samson looked gorgeous to the eyes, and he played some remarkable shots during his innings.
The wicketkeeper-batsman completed his half-century off 27 balls and from thereon, he accelerated further and took 20 more balls to complete his century.
Sanju Samson looked fearless in the middle and was in no mood to stop even after registering his second consecutive T20I century. However, Nqabayomzi Peter brought an end to his innings on the 4th ball of the 16th over.
Nqabayomzi Peter bowled a shortish length delivery to Sanju Samson and the wicketkeeper-batsman played a pull shot towards deep mid-wicket.
It looked like the ball would go past the boundary line, but Samson had played his shot against the wind and Tristan Stubbs ran to his left, timed his jump perfectly to take a sensational catch over his head. Samson walked back to the dugout after scoring 107 runs off 50 balls, with 7 fours and 10 sixes.

The last T20I series between India and South Africa, which was held in late 2023, was tightly contested and ended in a 1-1 draw. The first T20I, scheduled to take place in Durban, was unfortunately abandoned without a single ball bowled due to persistent rain.
In the second T20I at Gqeberha, India, after struggling initially, put up a respectable total of 180/7 in 19.3 overs, thanks to Rinku Singh’s fiery 68 off 39 balls and Suryakumar Yadav's steady 56 from 36 deliveries. South Africa, however, chased the adjusted target of 152 runs [DLS] in 15 overs, thanks to the batting performance led by Reeza Hendricks' explosive 49 off 27 balls and Aiden Markram’s 30 from 17 deliveries.
The series reached its climax in Johannesburg, where India put up a dominant performance to clinch the third T20I. An impressive century from Suryakumar Yadav (100 off 56 balls) helped India post a massive total of 201/7.
In response, South Africa’s batting lineup struggled against Indian bowlers, particularly Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed a brilliant 5-wicket haul. South Africa were bowled out for a mere 95 runs, handing India a commanding 106-run victory and levelling the series 1-1.
