The tech giant informed its employees last week that the company has decided to bring back free coffee and tea at its work sites, an Oregonian report said. Earlier, the company had decided to do away with these perks in order to cut costs as it sought to slash $10 billion from its annual budget.Intel, in an internal note to its employees, said,"Although Intel still faces cost challenges, we understand that small comforts play a significant role in our daily routines.”“We know this is a small step, but we hope it is a meaningful one in supporting our workplace culture.”At an all-company meeting last week, Intel's Chief People Officer, Christy Pambianchi, announced that the company had been spending $100 million annually on free and discounted food and beverages — a cost it can no longer afford. "Until we improve our financial health, these benefits will be temporarily suspended," Pambianchi said, according to a report from The Oregonian. Other perks, such as complimentary fruit, will also remain on hold.

The company is expected to cut 15,000 jobs, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger had announced in August.
