Sanju Samson has created history and become the first Indian batsman to score back-to-back centuries in T20Is. The opening batsman achieved the milestone during the opening T20I of the four-match series against South Africa in Durban. Samson had slammed a century in the third T20I against Bangladesh last month.The wicketkeeper-batsman has followed with a century and has now all but confirmed his place in the opening position. Abhishek Sharma has been struggling for runs since his century and he could lose his spot when the regulars return.Samson had entered the T20I series against Bangladesh after back-to-back ducks against Sri Lanka and was under pressure. He failed to score big in first 2 T20Is against Bangladesh and was probably playing for his place in the playing XI.Samson shattered multiple records as he ended the series with a brilliant century. It was his first century in international cricket. He continued his form against South Africa and kicked off the tour with a ton.Samson has now all but confirmed his place as an opener. While he has now started to play big knocks, Abhishek has mostly struggled to score since his century against Zimbabwe. The left-handed batsman could lose his spot when the regulars return. Yashasvi Jaiswal is India's first-choice opener in T20Is and Tests and Abhishek could get dropped when he returns.Talking of the game, Abhishek struggled during his 8-ball stay on the field and managed to score 7 runs. He looked with the bounce and pace. Suryakumar Yadav and Samson added 66 runs for the second wicket. The India captain scored 21 off 17 balls.Tilak Varma's blitz of 33 off 18 balls accelerated India's innings. Samson, who now has two centuries in international cricket, departed for 107 off just 50 balls. India will hope to post a total of more than 225 on the board.
