Ekadashi is one of the most important days of the month and hence, it holds immense significance in Hinduism. The Ekadashi which falls on the day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month is celebrated as Dev Uthani Ekadashi. It is believed that it is on this day that Lord Vishnu awakens after a four-month cosmic sleep. This day also marks the end of Chaturmaas when all auspicious activities are paused.This year, Dev Uthani Ekadashi will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 12. The Ekadashi Tithi will begin on November 11 at 06:46 PM and the Ekadashi Tithi will end on November 12 at 04:04 PM. The Parana time (breaking the fast) is on November 13 from 06:42 AM to 08:51 AM. According to Drik Panchang, devotees of Lord Vishnu observe Ekadashi fast to receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu.The fast performed on Ekadashi lasts for three days. To make sure that there is no residue of food in the stomach the next day, devotees eat only in the afternoon a day before the fast. Devotees observe a strict fast on Ekadashi and end the fast only after sunrise the next day.
