Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has announced a voluntary recall for its prestigious GL1800 Gold Wing tourer in India. The recall addresses a potential issue in the primary drive gear fastening bolt of certain engines, a precaution taken to ensure rider safety and vehicle reliability. This decision follows a global recall for the same model, underlining Honda’s commitment to the highest safety standards worldwide.

Reason for Recall

According to Honda’s statement, the recall affects Honda Gold Wing models manufactured between March 2018 and May 2021. The company explained, “A potential issue has been identified in the primary drive gear fastening bolt of certain engines. Under some conditions, the bolt may break, causing subsequent engine stoppage.” While Honda has not specified the exact number of affected units, this recall is a proactive measure to address any possible risk.

Honda’s Plan for Replacement

Honda will replace the faulty drive gear fastening bolts at its BigWing dealerships across India, beginning in the third week of December. The replacement will be conducted free of charge for affected motorcycles, regardless of their warranty status, demonstrating Honda’s commitment to customer safety and satisfaction.
