Credit Card New Rules: Changes Effective from November 15

ICICI Bank is introducing several new rules for credit cards, which will take effect from November 15, 2024. These changes impact airport lounge access, utility payments, supplementary card charges, and more. Here's a summary of the updates:

  • Airport Lounge Access Rules
    The spending limit for complimentary lounge access has increased from ₹35,000 to ₹75,000 per quarter. This applies to cards like HPCL Super Saver Visa, Coral, Rubix, Sapphiro, and Adani One Signature Credit Card.

  • Reward Points on Utility & Insurance Payments

    • Premium cards (e.g., Rubix, Sapphiro, Emerald Visa): Rewards on spends up to ₹80,000/month.
    • Other cards: Rewards capped at ₹40,000/month.
  • Rewards Cap on Grocery Purchases

    • Premium cardholders: Rewards up to ₹40,000/month.
    • Other cards: Rewards up to ₹20,000/month.
  • Fuel Surcharge Waiver

    • All cardholders: Waiver on fuel transactions up to ₹50,000/month.
    • Emerald Mastercard Metal cardholders: Waiver up to ₹1 lakh/month.
  • Exclusion of Certain Payments

    • Payments for rent, government services, and education will not count toward annual fee waivers or milestone benefits.
    • Fee reversal limit for Emerald cards reduced from ₹15 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
  • Discontinuation of Airport Spa Services
    The complimentary spa facility offered via Dreamfolks cards is now discontinued for Sapphiro, Emerald, Adani One Signature, and Emirates Emerald cardholders.

  • Annual Fee for Supplementary Cards
    Supplementary cardholders will be charged an annual fee of ₹199, added during the card anniversary month.

  • Charges on Education & Utility Payments via Apps

    • A 1% fee applies to education payments made via third-party apps (e.g., CRED, Paytm, MobiKwik). No charges apply for payments made directly through school/college websites or POS machines.
    • A 1% surcharge will also apply to utility bill payments exceeding ₹50,000.
  • Action Required: ICICI Bank credit cardholders should review these changes and adjust their spending habits accordingly starting November 15.
