A doctor was stabbed seven times, including in his chest, at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai by a 25-year-old man on Wednesday morning allegedly on suspicion of prescribing incorrect medication to his mother, a cancer patient.
The oncologist who is also a heart patient suffered injuries to his upper chest and was admitted to the ICU. He is reported to be in a stable condition.

Doctor Mr I have ordered Balaji to give them all the necessary treatment and to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident. The selfless work of our government doctors is immeasurable in providing appropriate treatment to the patients who seek government hospitals regardless of time. We must ensure their safety during this work. The government will take all measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future" CM Stalin posted on X.
