However one actress has stood out not only for her acting but for her impressive wealth making her one of the richest actresses in the industry. This actress made her film debut with the 1986 movie Sultanat and went on to become one of the biggest stars in Bollywood. Yes we’re talking about none other than Juhi Chawla. Recently she drew attention when the Hurun Rich List 2024 revealed her net worth to be Rs 4600 crore which surpasses the combined net worth of top actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Priyanka Chopra Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone. This revelation surprised many as Juhi hasn’t appeared in any films since 2009 suggesting she has taken semi-retirement. During the 1980s and 1990s she was one of the industry’s most prolific stars. By the 2000s she had reduced her film appearances yet she became the co-owner of an IPL team and co-founder of Red Chillies Group alongside her husband Jay Mehta and actor Shah Rukh Khan. In an old interview with ETC Bollywood Juhi shared “When I was very young they asked us in school ‘What do you aspire to become when you grow up?’ At that time a film had come out called Rich and Famous so I simply wrote in my book: ‘Happy healthy rich and famous.’ When my friends saw this they teased me a lot. They were like ‘How are you going to be rich and famous?’ I had no idea then; I was hardly in sixth or seventh grade. But look at life—I got an opportunity. A simple part in a college fashion show took me to the Miss India Pageant. Even my parents were shocked.” How Did Juhi Become One of the Richest Actresses in the Industry? While Juhi’s income partially comes from her movies it is her business ventures that have significantly boosted her wealth. Besides her friendship with Shah Rukh she is also a co-founder of Red Chillies Group and co-owns several cricket teams including the Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2007 Shah Rukh Khan Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta purchased the team for $75.09 million (about Rs 623 crore). According to Forbes the team’s current value has reached $1.1 billion which is approximately Rs 9139 crore. Before this Juhi and Shah Rukh started a production house together Dreamz Unlimited co-producing three films. However the company eventually dissolved citing internal conflicts as the reason. Additionally Juhi holds shares in Saurashtra Cement Ltd. a company owned by her husband Jay Mehta’s Mehta Group.
