Chef Tom Kerridge's fans were left stunned by the astronomical price tag of his cook-at-home package; a bank-account-busting £280.
The gourmet Christmas feast, an intense hit on the wallet at a staggering £65 more than last year, demands that its sumptuous elements be barbecued out in the chilly yuletide garden.
Adding to the extravagance, the celebrity chef's culinary creations are tailored for the exclusive , priced at an extravagant £1,950.
Not to forget essential add-ons: a bag of charcoal will set you back another £58, and to ensure your festive meat is perfectly cooked, a digital thermometer for £39 is advised.
Prospective chefs can anticipate their delivery on the 21st of December, turkey now included. A generously sized rib of beef also features, which should be enough to feed 15 people.
Amid the cost-of-living crisis, Kerridge, 51, has faced backlash for such stratospheric pricing, with one incensed citizen quipping, "So pleased they've dropped the interest rates. Else I'd never be able to afford this."
Others displayed a more optimistic view, considering the gastronomic venture a "great idea". Kerridge, who has collected two Michelin stars, presides over a dining empire that includes eight establishments throughout Britain, such as The Coach and Hand of Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
The advertisement for the festive culinary package states: "It's a dream Christmas combination. Tom Kerridge, the superstar chef of Britain's only pub with two Michelin stars, provides the exclusive recipes. HG Walter, the country's best butcher, provides the meat. The Big Green Egg provides the heat and smoke."
"The Tom Kerridge Christmas Box contains all the ingredients and online instructions you need to recreate two simple but spectacular Christmas centrepieces on your Egg. Tom's marmalade-glazed free-range Bronze turkey with spiced rye bread sauce, and his pastrami-rubbed, dry-aged rib of beef with mustard and horseradish mayo."
"The meat, sourced by HG Walter from small-scale British and Irish farmers, is of the quality demanded by a multi-star chef, and the glaze, rubs and sauces all meet the same uncompromising standards. Cooking the whole box at once? Serves 15, with leftovers. £18 per head."
"Want to spread the experience out? Both Turkey and Beef will be good to cook after Boxing Day. Includes free Delivery and online guides. The box will be delivered on the 21st of December."
The cheapest barbecue in the set is the Minimax Big Green Egg which would set someone back £820. The Large Big Green Egg costs £1,415 and the XL Big Green Egg is priced at £1,950.
The price per head for the box alone amounts to £18.66, but a significant extra investment is necessary for the requisite cooking equipment. Last year, Kerridge faced criticism for the steep pricing of his Christmas box, with quips suggesting it cost akin to a "medium sized car".
