has announced plans to drop one of its most premium draughter lager and replace it with a lesser-known brand.

The popular chain, which has more than 800 across the , is set to stop selling San Miguel at the end of the month.

Instead, the pubs will serve Poretti, which is a northern Italian beer from mid November.

Poretti, is a 4.8 percent ABV and isa premium lager. According to the , Poretti is "brewed by combining four different hop varieties to produce a great-tasting, balanced hoppy bitterness".

"The Poretti brewery was founded in 1877 by Poretti, in Varese, Northern Italy, and has been brewing beers for more than 140 years."

The cost of a pint of Poretti will be £3.99 across the majority of Wetherspoon pubs and as part of the Monday Club deal it will be priced at £3.20 a pint.

Meanwhile, the new lager will also be included with meals on the main menu and as part of Wetherspoon 'includes a drink range' deal.

Poretti will be part of the pub's world beers range alongside other lagers from Denmark, the USA, Belgium, and Mexico.

Despite the change, Wetherspoon customers are not happy about the menu shake up. Wetherspoons haven't revealed why they have made the changes.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: " absolute joke if Wetherspoons stops serving San Miguel. I will be boycotting for one. When that happens."

A second commented: "I don't think I've ever been in a #Wetherspoons and never likely to know they are replacing #SanMiguel with #Poretti."

Another added: "A sad day today. Just learned after November all Wetherspoons are removing San Miguel. But replacing it with Poretti, not bad."

A fourth said: "Can't believe Wetherspoons are getting rid of San Miguel."

A user commented: "They have Corona on tap; who cares about San Miguel."

Finally, another added: "Italians can't make beer. Miguel has been my drink of choice for nearly a decade."
