Children's Day: Every year 14 November is celebrated as Children's Day. This day is the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The purpose of celebrating Children's Day is to spread awareness for the happiness of children, their rights, and their bright future.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru believed that children are the future of the country. Children need to be given a good education and a healthy life. He was very fond of children.

10 Rights of Children in India

Many fundamental rights of children in India are enshrined in the Constitution and various Child Rights Acts. Here are 10 major rights of children-

1. Right to Equality: Every child has the right to equal treatment and protection under the law (Article 14).

2. Right against discrimination: Children should not be discriminated against based on religion, caste, sex, race, or place of birth (Article 15).

3. Right to Life and Personal Liberty: Children have the right to life, liberty, and security (Article 21).

4. Right to protection from exploitation: Children must be protected from trafficking and bonded labor (Article 23).

5. Right to free and compulsory education: Children between 6 and 14 years of age have the right to free and compulsory education (Article 21A).

6. Right to protection from hazardous employment: Children below 14 years of age cannot be employed in hazardous jobs (Article 24).

7. Right to development: Children must have access to healthcare, nutrition, and opportunities for holistic development (Article 39(f)).

8. Right to participation: Children have the right to express their opinions on matters that affect them and their opinions must be valued (according to various child rights frameworks).

9. Right to identity: Every child has the right to a name, nationality, and family ties.

10. Right to a safe environment: Children must be protected from all forms of abuse, violence, and exploitation.

Children's Day is celebrated twice a year.

In India, Children's Day is celebrated on 14 November. But International Children's Day is celebrated on 20 November. It was started by the United Nations in the year 1954.
