There is ups and downs going on in the politics of Karnataka at present. On Thursday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused BJP and claimed that BJP had offered bribe of Rs 50 crore each to 50 Congress MLAs to topple his government. After his allegation, discussions regarding 'Operation Lotus' have intensified in the state.
Now countering these allegations, Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra on Thursday challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to prove these allegations. The BJP president said that if the CM fails to prove these allegations, the public will not take them seriously.
The BJP President, while presenting the party's stand on the Chief Minister's allegations, said that while holding a responsible post like the Chief Minister, his dignity is being diminished by such statements. They should disclose the basis of the allegations. He said that the Chief Minister has no confidence in his own MLAs, that is why he is making such false allegations. The government in the state is yours, the investigating agencies are yours, you should get these allegations investigated, otherwise your statements will be considered just political statements.
Refusing to react to the BJP president's statements, Siddaramaiah said that you are asking me about a person who has recently entered politics.
While talking to the media, the Karnataka CM had accused the BJP and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had offered Rs 50-50 crore to the Congress MLAs to topple their government in the state, but when our MLAs did not agree, BJP started trying to remove me from power by tarnishing my image.
CM met BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Accusing Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai of corruption, he asked where these people are getting so much money from. The BJP leaders are using the money they have to buy our MLAs.
