Fans of Channel 4's hit property show, A Place in the Sun, were left gobsmacked as presenter Laura Hamilton guided a potential buyer through a "cave."
Laura was back for Thursday's show to assist Mark, from Kent, who dreamed of owning a holiday home in Italy. Accompanied by his best friend, Mark had a budget of £80,000 and was looking for a rustic space.
But viewers were appalled by the first property on Laura's list, branding it "vile." As they entered the home, viewers were quick to notice that the house didn't include any windows.
It also had exposed brick throughout. Sharing his thoughts, Mark expressed that the property was far too "crisp and modern" for his liking, and he preferred an older look.
However, viewers were completely put off and headed straight over to X to share their thoughts. One fan said: "That’s a f*****g cave. Afternoon everybody." (sic)
Another penned: "Sorry, that is the most vile looking place in the history of vile looking places." Another baffled viewer asked: "Where are the windows?"
But the confusion and terrible viewings didn't stop there. Later on in the show, Laura's second property failed to impress fans at home.
Just like the first, the second holiday home didn't include many windows in the bedroom or living space. Although it wasn't advertised as a studio apartment, it also included a bed in the living room, which caught Mark off guard.
Similar to the first property, the second Italian house was lowly lit and had a cave-like feel, which Mark also pointed out. One fan watching the disastrous viewing said, "Is this the no Windows version or what? #aplaceinthesun."
While another added: "A bedroom with no window, I would have to paint a fake window and put curtains up before considering sleeping in there. Now a visitor's bedroom with 4-foot ceiling. And this is a contender." (sic)
A third fan said: "Cheap properties in Italy don’t have windows. Not so much as 'townhouse' more a cave."
A fourth added: "You’d think Italians were afraid of windows if you relied on this episode."
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
