A doctor from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur died by suicide in his hotel room at Agra. Before taking this drastic step, the doctor video-called up his wife and said that he was “a guest for just two minutes". Following this, he injected himself with anaesthesia and died due to an overdose. Police have taken his body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
The deceased has been identified as Rajkumar Chaudhary. He was a radiologist at SR Hospital in Bharatpur. He stayed at Hotel Gangaratna located on Fatehabad Road in the Thana Tajganj area of Agra on Tuesday.
Late on Wednesday night, the doctor made a video call to his wife from the hotel. The wife also asked the doctor for his location, and upon receiving it, immediately contacted the hotel. However, by the time hotel staff reached the room, Chaudhary had died.
On receiving the information, the ACP, along with officers from the police station, arrived at the scene. The doctor’s wife also travelled to Agra from Bharatpur. The police took custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem. They have launched an investigation into the incident and trying to find out the circumstances leading to the doctor’s death.
