November 15, Los Angeles: ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Sophie Turner may lead Amazon’s ‘Tomb Raider’ series.

Sophie may play British explorer Lara Croft in Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The spring-ordered live-action series will stream on Amazon Prime Video with Phoebe Waller-Bridge penning and exec producing.

Previous cinematic versions of the video game franchise starred Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

Turner and other British actresses auditioned for the part in October. Only Mackenzie Davis (Station Eleven) was American on the shortlist. Sources say Emma Mackey (Sex Education) and Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) also auditioned.

About the project, Phoebe remarked, “My adolescent self would burst if I told her this was happening.A significant part of my life is Tomb Raider, and I feel blessed to bring it to television with such dedicated colleagues. I love Lara Croft, as do many others, and I’m excited for this journey. All bats.”

Not much is known about the project.

Turner’s post-‘Game of Thrones’ appearances include Max’s short series ‘The Staircase’, Netflix’s ‘Do Revenge’, and ITV/CW’s ‘Joan’. She’ll appear in Prime Video’s thriller ‘Haven’.
