On Friday, Anshul Kamboj, the top pacer for Haryana, made history by becoming only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to take all ten wickets in an innings.
Against Kerala in their Ranji Trophy 2024–25 round five encounter at Rohtak, Kamboj accomplished the uncommon feat.
He concluded with 10/49, joining two other players who have accomplished the feat: Pradeep Sundaram (10/78) of Rajasthan and Premangshu Chatterjee (10/20) of Bengal.
In the 2004–05 season, Joginder Sharma took eight wickets against Vidarbha, setting a new record for the most innings by a Haryana bowler.
Before reaching the milestone, Kamboj defeated the entire Kerala top-order on Day 3 of the game, dismissing all four half-centurions by tea. In the process, Kamboj made his 19th appearance and reached 50 First-Class wickets.
He had already claimed eight wickets when he got to the stumps yesterday, but this morning he delivered another outstanding effort.
He dismissed Basil Thampi for his ninth wicket in the day’s first over and Shoun Roger for his historic tenth wicket, dismissing Kerala for 291 in the first innings.
All things considered, Kamboj is only the sixth Indian bowler to take ten First-Class wickets; the other three on the exclusive list are the renowned leg-spinners Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte, and Debasis Mohanty.
