Rapper Badshah Lands In Legal Trouble Over Alleged Non-Payment Of Dues For Song Baawla

Rapper and singer Badshah is currently embroiled in a legal battle with a media company over an alleged failure to pay agreed-upon fees related to his song Baawla. The lawsuit, filed in the Karnal District Court, accuses Badshah of not settling payments for services related to the production and promotion of the track, despite multiple reminders from the company.

Badshah lands in legal soupAccording to the reports, the media company claims it fulfilled all responsibilities, including marketing and promotional efforts, for the song’s success. However, they have reportedly not received any payments for their work. The lawsuit also alleges that Badshah ignored repeated reminders and offered only false assurances when it came to settling the dues. The song's success has been attributed in part to the media company's significant investment in its promotion. Despite its achievements, the media company now claims that the financial arrangements for the project were not honoured. The lawsuit also points out Badshah’s alleged failure to meet payment deadlines, which the company claims were repeatedly extended after he promised to settle the amounts owed.This legal issue is not Badshah’s first run-in with the law. In 2023, the rapper was reportedly summoned by the Maharashtra Police’s Cyber Cell in connection with the promotion of an online betting app called FairPlay. Badshah was one of around 40 celebrities scrutinised for endorsing the app. The app was allegedly involved in streaming IPL matches illegally, a violation of intellectual property rights held by Viacom18. ALSO READ: In response to the investigation, Badshah’s lawyer clarified that the rapper was questioned as a witness and not as a defendant in the case. Badshah reportedly cooperated with the authorities by providing bank records to show that he had not engaged in any illegal activities.
