As the Donald Trump 2.0 cabinet takes shape in Washington, former Democrat turned Trump ally Robert F Kennedy Jr was picked to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. RFK Jr. had run an independent presidential campaign after leaving the Democratic Party but endorsed Trump in September. Earlier, Trump had said that he would allow RFK Jr to "go wild with medicine."Following his landslide victory in the November 5 US elections, Trump was joined on the stage by RFK Jr as he delivered his victory speech at his Palm Beach, Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago. The 78-year-old had said then that RFK Jr would "help make American healthy again.“He’s going to help make America healthy again. … He wants to do some things, and we’re going to let him get to it,” Trump said. "Go have a good time, Bobby."Despite the appointment not being confirmed yet, and resting on an approval from the Senate, it is likely that it would happen as the Republicans now have a comfortable majority in the Congress. So, if Bobby Kennedy becomes the next health chief of the United States, what to expect from him?Despite Kennedy's earlier claims about vaccination, which included suggesting it cause autism, the former Democrat now seemed to have mellowed a little. Going from writing a book accusing Anthony Fauci, the former National Institute of Health official, of working in a nexus with Bill Gates and pharma companies to sell COVID-19 vaccines, he now says that he will not retract vaccines. Also read: “I’m going to make sure scientific safety studies and efficacy are out there, and people can make individual assessments about whether that product is going to be good for them,” he said in a TV interview on November 6. In the same interview, he said that he would work against mixing fluoride in drinking water, based on his oft-repeated claim that the chemical, usually added to prevent cavities, causes low IQ in children.
