The creation of raw or counterfeit liquor, which may include dangerous substances, is often associated with the problem of hazardous alcohol. Illicit liquor may include harmful ingredients like methyl alcohol, in contrast to government-approved liquor, which is distilled at certain temperatures to create safe ethyl alcohol. Methyl is especially dangerous since it may harm the brain and eyes, and consuming it can cause blindness or even death.
