Aamir Khan talks about mortality: 'Let me make my last ten years more productive'
Aamir Khan had taken a break from movies for around a year, post the release of ' Laal Singh Chaddha '. The actor had taken that time off to analyse his choices and largely to spend time with his family and reflect upon life. Now that he's back, he's taken up a lot of projects, starting with ' Sitaare Zameen Par ' which will be his next release. In a recent interview, Aamir opened up on why he's taken up many projects together this time around and is more productive than ever.
He spoke about mortality and the nature of life. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, where he was also accompanied by his ex-wife and film-maker Kiran Ro, he said, "I have never taken up six movies together in my life. This time, I had my own reason for it. When I finally decided that, ‘Okay, I won’t leave films yet’, the next thought came to me that this is probably the last 10 years of my active working life .” Kiran interupted him and said that she refuses to accept that he's in the twilight of his career. She further gave an example of Clint Eastwood.
Reacting to it, Aamir said, "You guys are giving an extreme example. He is one of the rare people who is in his 90s is still thinking straight.” The actor with a very realistic approach, further said, "You can’t trust life, we might die tomorrow. So, I am saying, I roughly have 10 years of active life. I am 59. Till I am 70, I will hopefully be well enough to be productive. So, then I thought, let me make my last 10 years the most productive. More than that, as I am getting older, I want to support talent which I believe in–writers, directors, all creative people. I want to become a platform for talents I believe in before I retire at 70. That’s why I took up more films.”
Aamir had opened up on 'Sitare Zameen Par' in the same interview and said that according to him, it's better than 'Taare Zameen Par'.
