Champions Trophy: ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is in constant controversies. Pakistan Cricket Board and Board of Control for Cricket in India are face to face regarding this mega event of ICC. ICC is also stuck between these two cricket boards. But ICC has taken a decision which is considered a big blow for PCB.
The ICC Champions Trophy was last played in England in 2017. Pakistan became the winner in this. This time Pakistan is the organizer. The schedule of Champions Trophy has not come yet. But Pakistan Cricket Board was ready to conduct Champions Trophy tour in different parts of the country and had also released its schedule. The ICC gave a shock to the PCB as soon as it released the schedule.
According to the PCB schedule, the tour program was to start from November 16 in Islamabad. He was to be taken to places like Skardu, Murree, Hunza and Muzaffarabad. In this, Skardu, Hunza and Muzaffarabad fall in POK i.e. Pakistan Occupied Kashmir which is a disputed area. ICC has refused PCB to take the Champions Trophy to POK. This is being considered a big blow for PCB.
Pakistan is the official organizer of Champions Trophy 2025. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India has refused to send Team India to Pakistan due to security reasons and has demanded a hybrid model from the ICC. There is also news that if Pakistan refuses to adopt the hybrid model, then the hosting rights can be taken from it and handed over to South Africa. There are also reports that in the last 2 days, India has also come into the race to organize the Champions Trophy. However, at present no official decision has come from the ICC on this.
