Godrej Jersey conducted a study among Indian parents in honor of Children’s Day to find out why they felt that their children should be fed milk. While others emphasized the importance of maintaining physical fitness and controlling weight in addition to providing energy and serving as a meal substitute, 63% of parents in Bengaluru and 60% of parents nationwide said that they feed their children milk to maintain calcium intake.

The thorough research, titled “Bottoms Up…India Says Cheers to Milk!” and including customer feedback from Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata, offers insightful information on changing consumer preferences and market trends. The poll attempted to ascertain the parents’ preferred milk-based items for their children in addition to their justifications for providing them milk.

Bhupendra Suri, CEO of Godrej Jersey, commented on the results, saying, “Numerous studies conducted both in India and elsewhere have shown the nutritional benefits of milk, which is beneficial for children. Rich in calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, and high-quality protein, it is commonly considered essential for developing infants. In light of this, our consumer survey’s findings about the reasons why parents like giving their children milk are positive.

Another intriguing finding from the study was that 90% of Indian children consume milk more than four or five times a week, and 40% of parents were amenable to the idea of serving flavored milk to their children at school or for consumption during the day, particularly during playtime.

YouGov created and carried out the study. The goods are sold under the Godrej Jersey brand by Creamline Dairy goods Limited, a division of Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL), a diverse food and agribusiness conglomerate of Godrej Group.
