Noida: In a case of medical negligence at a private hospital in Greater Noida, a doctor has apologised for mistakenly operating on a seven-year-old boy's right eye instead of the left, where the child had a problem. The incident occurred at Ananda Spectrum Hospital in the Gamma 1 sector on November 12. After the boy's father, Nitin Bhati, noticed the error, the doctor admitted his mistake, saying, “Mujhse bas right-left mein galti ho gayi. Bas yahi meri ek samasya hai (I only erred in making the distinction between right and left eye. That is my only problem). I accept my mistake.” The doctor further assured the parents, “I take full guarantee that the child will be okay in just five days.”The boy had been brought to the hospital after complaining of watering in his left eye, and the doctors had suggested surgery to treat a foreign object in the eye, charging Rs 45,000 for the procedure. However, when the family returned home, they discovered the wrong eye had been operated on.The family, still shaken by the incident, approached the local police, but as of Thursday evening, no formal complaint had been filed with either the police or the district health department. Despite attempts at mediation by police officials, the situation remains unresolved.District officials, including District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma and Chief Medical Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma, stated they had not yet received any official complaint. Sharma assured, “Any time when we get such a complaint, an investigation is immediately launched into the matter. However, as of now, nothing has been officially reported to us.”With inputs from PTI
