The TikTok user's post says: "You will be amazed by this viewing platform located on west cliffs of Gran Canaria! Make sure you’re wearing something warm, cause it’s often extremely windy there!"
The view shown comes from a high point on the island which is the largest in the Canary Islands.. The point where the two pieces of glass meet moves back and a woman is standing at the top wearing a red dress and looking down at the ocean below.
Only two panes of glass are seen preventing the girl from falling. But the view of the water smashing on to the rocks below is breathtaking and terrifying at the same time. Its location is then revealed as Mirador del Balcon, a lookout point on the island which is described by tourism bosses as a "spectacular viewpoint" in the far west of Gran Canaria. Travel chiefs say it "hangs over the sea at the top of a steep cliiff edge with spectacular views out over the Atlantic Ocean".
They also say that the position offers a clear view of a zigzag wall of sea cliffs called the “Dragon’s Tail”. For those who are still able to stand after the terrifying heightsm, they can turn back, observe the island and look out over the Arena Valley and La Aldea de San Nicolás.
A reviewer on Tripadvisor was impressed by the location. She said: "We were based in Maspalomas so it took us about 1.5 hours to get to the balcon. I am afraid of heights and driving on those Canarian roads isn't easy for me but this road (GC200) wasn't that bad.
"The view from the balcony is just breathtaking. You can park your car 10 maybe 20 meters from the balcony but bear in mind it is very windy!!!! If you have time you can go to playa de aldea which is around 4 km away from the balcony. Lovely quiet beach with huge round rocks and tall cliffs in the background."
