Bengaluru: A political controversy erupted in Karnataka over the renovation of the Chief Minister's office. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hitting out at the Siddaramaiah Government in the state termed it as "misplaced priorities". Around Rs 2.4 crores were spent on the renovation, which included luxury furniture and lighting.The BJP alleged that the money, which was to be used for the development of the state amid the financial crisis was used for giving a "luxurious" look to the CM's office. The saffron party also called it a "personal glorification". "No, very recently, the Chief Minister's residence was given facelift spending crores of rupees and in Vidhan Sodha, many a times his offices get facelift spending lakhs of rupees. The PWD engineering department which looks after the maintenance work in Vidhan Sodha and other government buildings, quite often every six months, one year, they keep spending the amount.," BJP's S. Prakash told Times Now.S Prakash's Statement:

"Now, Karnataka is facing severe financial crisis and under such circumstances, the money which is meant for the development of the state is being used for giving a luxurious look for the Chief Minister's office and residence is very unfortunate," he added.The BJP leader said the Siddaramaiah Government has failed to provide good governance. "Larger charge is they are more interested in personal glorification than the society interest. The Bengaluru roads, now again, craters have come up after the recent rain and many developmental actors come to a standstill. Even the IACC president said even for a road making, the funds are not available and under such circumstances, priority should be the development of the state, not the offices of the ministers," he said. So, it is very dear, people are understanding in the last round-up is how the government has failed in giving a good governance to the people of Karnataka," the BJP leader added.Last month heavy rains lashed Karnataka's capital city Bengaluru. Most parts of the city were inundated.
