Former Pakistan cricketer Moeen Khan has raised questions on the strategy of the Pakistan Cricket Board ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, as there is confusion regarding the schedule and venues of the event. Now this event is to be held in Pakistan between February 19 and March 9, but after India's refusal to send its team to the neighboring country, the original proposal of organizing the event in the country is under question and there is confusion regarding the event location. .
How will Pakistan host amid the controversy?
While the PCB was keen to host the entire event including India's matches in Pakistan, India too is firm on its decision to host its matches elsewhere. BCCI has clearly said that they will not go to Pakistan, as there are still security as well as political issues there. Thus, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has still not announced the full schedule and venues of this much-awaited tournament.
Trophy tour will start from 16th November
Amidst all this, the Trophy tour will start from Pakistan on 16th November. The first stop of the tour will be in Skardu in northern Pakistan. Moeen Khan was skeptical about the logic behind this trophy tour, as he was still not clear whether the matches would be held in Abu Dhabi or elsewhere.
Moin Khan questions PCB
He was quoted by Sportskeeda as saying- “What is the purpose of this trophy tour, when no one really knows where the tournament will be held and whether Pakistan and India will play against each other in the event?”
Moeen Khan said “It is strange to organize a trophy tour without announcing the schedule.”
The Champions Trophy was to be formally launched on 11 November in Lahore on the date for the unveiling of its schedule. But with India's withdrawal and PCB's announcement that it should be played in Pakistan, the ICC has still not made any official statement regarding the fixtures or venues for this tournament. And since the situation is volatile, the main hurdle remains in the Champions Trophy plans for 2025.
