Chhath Puja is more than just a festival; it is a deep expression of cultural identity , spirituality, and communal values. This occasion draws families together, with loved ones often traveling from afar to participate in rituals that reinforce family bonds and a shared sense of belonging. Those observing Chhath Puja place their unwavering trust in God, believing that their heartfelt prayers will be answered.

Jagriti - Ek Nayi Subah, set in a fictional town in Jharkhand, brings this rich tradition to life through Jagriti (played by Asmi Deo ) in its upcoming episodes. Recently, viewers saw Jagriti’s emotional journey as she discovered Geeta (Titiksha Shrivastava) is her biological mother. However, just as she is about to reveal this truth to her mother, Geeta meets with a severe accident and is hospitalized. In a heartfelt gesture, Jagriti takes a four-day Chhath Puja fast, praying for her mother’s recovery. While it is known in real life, that the woman of the house usually keeps a fast for the well-being of the entire family, for the first time the viewers will get to watch a child keep a fast for her mother’s good health.

Asmi Deo herself shares a personal connection to the festival, having celebrated it with her family in Ranchi. She shared, “I've celebrated Chhath Puja with my mother in Ranchi, where I’ve seen women in our neighborhood fast, prepare prasad, and gather by the riverbank to offer arghya to the Sun. The way everyone unites for the festival is truly beautiful. I have seen other people keeping this fast but this is first time I will get to experience it on the show as Jagriti.”

As audiences embrace the spirit of Chhath Puja through Jagriti, they will be captivated by what happens when Geeta regains consciousness and discovers Jagriti is her daughter.

To immerse into the auspicious festivities of Chhath Puja, tune in to Jagriti-Ek Nayi Subah, every day at 08:30 pm.
