The Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab on Friday criticized the move to give land to Haryana to build an assembly building in Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party says that Chandigarh belongs to Punjab. Not even an inch of land should be given to Haryana for the construction of the assembly building here. An AAP delegation met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday and made this request.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party and opposition parties in Punjab have expressed anger over the approval of allocation of land in Chandigarh for Haryana. He has criticized the alleged move by the Central Government to give 10 acres of land to Haryana. At the same time, there was a heated argument between the ruling parties of Punjab and Haryana on this issue. Haryana was formed as a separate state in 1966.

After meeting Kataria, the AAP delegation led by Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema told reporters, 'Chandigarh belongs to Punjab and we will not give even an inch of land... Chandigarh has the right of Punjab and we will fight for our rights. .' He said that the delegation has submitted a memorandum to the Governor in this regard. It has also been said that no land should be allotted to Haryana.

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini targeted

Governor Kataria is also the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, which is the common capital of both Punjab and Haryana. Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that Chandigarh is a part of Punjab. This is the capital of Punjab. Haryana has no right to build an assembly building in Chandigarh. Meanwhile, BJP-ruled Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has advised the Aam Aadmi Party not to indulge in cheap politics on this issue.

Taking aim at AAP, Haryana CM asked it not to do 'cheap politics' on this issue. He said that Chandigarh is a part of both Haryana and Punjab. Haryana also has control over Chandigarh. Saini has also asked the government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to give SYL water to Haryana. At the same time, Punjab Minister Cheema says why Haryana has failed to make its capital for 6 decades.

Capital should be made in Panchkula…Punjab Minister

The AAP leader, after meeting the Governor, said that when Haryana was made a separate state, it was made clear that Haryana would have its own capital and assembly. For 6 decades, Haryana failed to build its own capital or form an assembly in the state. Now they are laying claim to the capital of Punjab. They should not do this. We advise them why they can't make their capital in Panchkula?

The Punjab minister says that Haryana should make its capital in Panchkula... which is barely a kilometer away from the place where he is seeking land for the assembly building in Chandigarh. They should form their assembly in Panchkula. Cheema said that this issue is related to the sentiments of 3 crore people of Punjab and that is that Chandigarh belongs to Punjab. At the same time, Haryana CM has alleged that AAP leaders do cheap politics.

Why are you spoiling brotherhood?- CM Saini

CM Saini said, 'Chandigarh is a part of Haryana and Punjab. I want to tell the leaders of Punjab that Haryana is the younger brother of Punjab. Why are they spoiling the brotherhood? He said, 'For their political selfishness, first they stopped the water of our Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL). The people of Punjab are our brothers, they also want that Haryana should get water. But Aam Aadmi Party leaders do cheap politics.

A few days after AAP came to power in Punjab, a resolution was passed by the Assembly in April 2022. In this, there was a demand for immediate transfer of Union Territory Chandigarh to AAP ruled Punjab. A few days later, the Haryana Assembly also passed a resolution. In which concern was expressed over the proposal by the Punjab Assembly laying claim on the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
