Unlock Characters Through Story Mode

The main story mode is your first step in unlocking many characters. By playing through each saga, you gradually add new fighters to your roster. As you defeat enemies in different arcs, they become available for use. Here’s a quick guide:

  • Saiyan Saga: Completing this saga unlocks Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, and several Z-Fighters like Goku, Piccolo, and Kid Gohan.
  • Frieza Saga: Progressing here gives you Zarbon, Dodoria, the Ginyu Force, and Frieza in various forms. Cooler (4th form) also joins the roster after this arc.
  • Android Saga: Characters like Androids 16, 17, and 18, along with Cell and Teen Gohan, become playable.
  • Buu Saga: Unlock Majin Buu, Super Buu, and Kid Buu, as well as characters like Gotenks, Videl, and the Great Saiyaman.
  • Future Trunks Saga: Finish this storyline to gain access to Future Trunks and Future Gohan.

Use Shenron Wishes for Exclusive Characters

Some fighters can only be unlocked by collecting all seven Dragon Balls and making a wish to Shenron. Select “I want more usable characters” to unlock these exclusive characters:

  • Hit
  • Ice Shenron
  • Nova Shenron
  • Omega Shenron

To gather Dragon Balls quickly, defeat Time Patrollers in Parallel Quests, as they often drop the items.

Unlock Fighters Through Parallel Quests

Parallel Quests (PQs) are another essential way to add characters to your lineup. Completing certain PQs with an Ultimate Finish unlocks specific fighters. For example:

  • Super Vegito: Found in Parallel Quest #91. To unlock him, ensure that Goku is defeated while keeping Raditz and Nappa alive.
  • Super Saiyan Gogeta: Available in Parallel Quest #81. Finish this quest by defeating Gogeta within the time limit and completing other objectives.

PQs are challenging and require strategy, so ensure your custom character is well-leveled before attempting these missions.

Unlock Characters via DLC Packs

Purchasing DLC packs introduces additional characters not available in the base game. Some of the notable additions include:

  • Goku Black
  • Zamasu and Merged Zamasu
  • Jiren
  • Kefla
  • Ultra Instinct Goku

Installing these packs automatically adds the characters to your roster, giving you access to some of the most powerful fighters in the Dragon Ball series.

Time Eggs and Secret Endings

Collecting all five Time Eggs is another way to unlock rare characters. These are obtained by completing mission chains in specific locations in Conton City, such as:

  • Hercule’s House
  • Capsule Corporation
  • Guru’s House
  • Frieza’s Ship
  • Majin Buu’s House

Once you’ve collected all the eggs, a special secret ending mission unlocks. Completing this grants access to Bardock (Super Saiyan 3) and an alternate version of Future Gohan.

Additional Tips

  1. Level Up Your Character: Tougher battles require a high-level custom character with strong abilities and optimized equipment.
  2. Aim for Ultimate Finishes: Many unlockable characters require you to complete missions with specific conditions, such as defeating enemies within a time limit or protecting allies.
  3. Check for Updates: New DLC packs or patches may introduce additional unlockable characters.

By following these steps, you’ll gradually unlock the full roster in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Whether it’s through story progression, quests, or wishes, there’s plenty of exciting content to discover in the game. Start your journey, power up, and fight as your favorite Dragon Ball characters!
