Gros Islet (St Lucia), Nov. 16: Matthew Forde will be replaced by left-arm seamer Obey McCoy for the remaining Twenty20 International matches against England. Prior to the third T20I, Forde strained his thigh while training.
Forde suffered a left thigh injury during training on Wednesday at the Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium. Forde was awarded Player of the Series in the ODI part of the trip, when the West Indies won the series. The medical staff will keep an eye on 22-year-old Forde as he strives for a complete recovery.
Forde participated in the second game of the series in Barbados after being brought in as a substitute for the suspended Alzarri Joseph. But for the match in St. Lucia, when the West Indies lost the series after falling down 3-0, Joseph was added to the starting lineup in his stead.
McCoy has been permitted to play again after being out for a while owing to an injury he acquired during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Before the back-to-back games over the weekend to wrap off the Rivalry series, the left-arm seamer, who has taken 49 wickets in 38 Twenty20 Internationals for the West Indies, will join the team. In August, he made his last appearance for the West Indies during their home series against South Africa.
England’s victory at the Daren Sammy Stadium on Thursday was their first Caribbean series win in any format since 2019. Over the weekend, the series’ last two games are expected to be played at the same location.
