Tata was the owner of one of the world's leading steel companies at that time. What we know today as Tata Steel, at that time its company name used to be TISCO. When the Second World War started in 1939, there was a shortage of weapons and vehicles in Europe. There was also a shortage of steel and the British then sought help from the Tata Group.
At that time, it was Tata Group which prepared 110 different varieties of steel for everything from weapons to armored vehicles. Tata Steel had to keep its factory running 24-24 hours and then Tata finally made a car which helped the British win the war.
