Usually Digital Invitation Card is in PDF file, but cyber thugs are sending APK file to people in the name of invitation card, after clicking on which an app is getting installed in people's phones and this app Is spying on people.
Cyber thugs can completely control your phone
Himachal Pradesh Cyber Crime DIG, CID IPS Mohit Chawla said that scammers are now sending wedding invitations in the form of APK files on WhatsApp. When these files are downloaded, malware becomes active in the phone. “Through this, cyber criminals take complete control of the device.” Once the malware is activated, cyber scammers can send messages from the phone, steal personal data and even break into the phone owner's bank account without his knowledge.
How to avoid WhatsApp wedding invitation scam?
Do not click on any invitation link or attachment sent from unknown numbers on WhatsApp.
Do not download the APK file from unknown number.
Do not give your personal information to anyone like phone number, Aadhaar number, PAN, date of birth, location etc.
Under no circumstances share the OTP received on your phone number with anyone.
