Ayush Badoni, who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket, has created havoc with the bat in Ranji Trophy. He not only scored a double century against Jharkhand but also saved his team from being out of the tournament. He played an inning of 205 runs in just 216 balls, which also included 16 fours and 10 sixes. Badoni has achieved this feat for the first time in first class cricket. Lucknow Super Giants team had recently retained him as an uncapped player for IPL 2025 for Rs 4 crore.

Lost match saved by 150 run partnership

The match against Jharkhand started on 13 November in the fifth round of Ranji Trophy. Captain Ayush Badoni, playing on his home ground, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Jharkhand team scored 382 runs. In response, Delhi team lost 5 wickets for 158 runs, after which defeat started knocking at the door. Then Badoni played the captaincy innings and made a partnership of 80 runs with Sumit Mathur for the sixth wicket. By the end of the third day's play, he had scored 144 runs in just 116 balls, due to which Delhi had managed to score 238 runs.

On the last day of the game i.e. Saturday 16th November, Badoni's explosive innings continued and their partnership reached 150 runs. However after this Sumit was out. Whereas Badoni remained at the other end and played an unbeaten inning of 205 runs. In this way, Badoni converted a match which was heading towards defeat into a draw. Badoni gave the credit for this innings to Justin Langer, who was the coach of Lucknow Super Giants. He said that with the help of his advice he was successful in giving a direction to his aggression.

Delhi narrowly escaped being out of the tournament

Thanks to this inning of Ayush Badoni, Delhi team managed to score 388 runs at the loss of 7 wickets and took the lead of the first innings. On the last day, Delhi team somehow went ahead of Jharkhand's score by just 6 runs. The result was that according to the rules of Ranji, he got the required 3 points. Because of this Delhi was saved from being out of the tournament. He still has hopes left to reach the quarter finals. For this he will have to win the next two matches.
