Who can forget the film 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited' directed by Rohit Shetty in 2006. This film is considered to be the best comedy film of Rohit Shetty's career. Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Rimi Sen and Tusshar Kapoor were in important roles in the film. Apart from these, Paresh Rawal's role in it was also very interesting. He played the role of a blind man. The background of the film was based in Goa. But from the beginning the shooting of the film was not to be done in Goa. Because of Paresh Rawal, Rohit Shetty had changed his entire plan.
Actually, when Rohit Shetty decided to make Golmaal, he was going to shoot the film with a set in Mumbai. But because of Paresh Rawal, he had to shoot the film in Goa. Rohit Shetty told in an interview to Mashable India, “Goa started appearing in every film, it was accidental… I only wanted Paresh Bhai for that character.”
Rohit further said, “I narrated it to Paresh Bhai but Paresh Bhai said that I would do it Rohit, but I am in Goa. I am shooting there for one and a half to two months, so it will be a bit difficult for me to come and go. I said that I want you only for this character. What if I come to Goa? He said that then I can take out time. I can do it by taking a break of two-three days in between. It was Priyan (Priyadarshan) sir's film. With Shahid. Quietly. So we went to Goa. Otherwise it was going to be set in Bombay (Mumbai).
Rohit Shetty said that he took the entire unit to Goa because of Paresh Rawal. He had decided that he wanted only Paresh Rawal for this role. Golmaal was released in theaters on 14 July 2006. This film had done a business of around Rs 40 crore at that time. The budget of the film was only around Rs 11 crore.
