American President elect Donald Trump has chosen Robert F Kennedy Jr ., the environmental attorney as his health secretary. RFK Jr. has made controversial statements about vaccines and vaccine mandates and he is one of the controversial figures in the US public health circle.


Vaccine causes autism

RFK Jr. promoted that modern vaccine formulas are responsible for the rise in autism diagnoses. Though it is proved nowhere, RFK Jr. stressed that the government knowingly allowed the pharmaceutical industry to develop these vaccines. However, the Department of Centre for Disease Control and Prevention , World Health Organisation found no credible link between vaccines and autism .

Exaggeration of pandemic

In his book "The Real Anthony Fauci" released in 2021, RFK Jr, accused Bill Gates and Dr Anthony Fauvi for exaggerating COVID 19. He wrote that the duo outsized the pandemic and noted that they promoted use of unapproved treatment for COVID 19 like ivermectin. He took it up by a notch in 2023 and stated that COVID 19 is targeted to attack caucasians and black people and in the video made public by New York Post, he is also seen stating that countries can target people by race.

Wireless technology causes cancer


RFK Jr. promoted the conspiracy that 5G - the advanced wireless technology has high radiation that causes cancer and cell phone tumors.However the American Cancer Society disproved his statement by saying there is no scientific proof connecting Wifi or 5G to any illness.



Aids not caused by HIV


In his interview with New York Magazine in 2023, RFK Jr. implied that the research on HIV has been phony and added that it lacks an understanding if it actually causes AIDS.


Over the years RFK Jr. has made multiple statements and accusations which have either been proven completely wrong or lack scientific proof. With his post as health secretary of the US under Trump's government, he has made two more new controversial statements.


Fluoride causes diseases


Taking to X on November 2, RFK Jr. said that he aims to work with Trump's administration to stop including fluoride in the public water system. He made a baseless claim that, "fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders and thyroid disease."


Mass shooting related to drugs

RFK Jr. speaking about the recent mass shootings in the US said that the drugs like antidepressants are causing the students. He mentioned that prior to the introduction of the drug like Prozac, the US did not have mass school shootings like that. Proving his point wrong, PolitiFact experts revealed that there is no scientific established correlation between psychiatric drugs and mass violence.
