Loryn Hansbrough, an avid pickleball player and lifestyle influencer cum entrepreneur defied all odds to take the court at Brookhaven Country Club while 32 weeks pregnant playing in the Lapiplasty Pickleball Championships. She's the second woman after Brooke Buckner to play at this level late in pregnancy.Loryn, who was competing alongside her husband, Ben at the Mixed Doubles (5.0) category discovered pregnancy actually improved her game and helped her slow down, focus on accuracy and deliver big-time shots.“Honestly, I think it’s helped me to slow down because you have to stop to hit the ball. Before when I was super active, I could move really quick, and sometimes I’d run through my shots. Now when I get there, I have to be slower and make sure that I’m hitting a good, solid shot, and give myself time to do that. It’s kind of been funny because people have told me that I’m playing great even though I don’t have the same energy and stamina'', she told pickleball.com in an interaction. Although Hansbrough participated in only one event, she spent the remainder of her stay watching pros, walking Pickleball Boulevard and sitting courtside for Ben's 5.0 match in men's doubles. The Hansbroughs enjoyed quality time during the course of the tournament as a couple with their third child on the way. “We’re considering this tournament our babymoon. Our two kids didn’t come with us and I’m due around Christmas, so this is our last trip kid-free'', she said. Loryn also revealed that her six-year-old son, Benji is a big time pickleball fanatic. “He loves pickleball. When he’s at my sister’s house and she’s babysitting them, right after dinner he asks to go to the court and wants to go practice. That’s his little night time routine'', she further added.
