Kailash Prajapati's daughter Kavita was married in Bhadohi district. Kavita was about to become a mother. Her husband works in Surat. She had come from her in-laws' house to her mother's house for delivery. For the delivery of her daughter, the mother admitted her to Pratap Hospital in Jaunpur on October 25, where after the operation, the victim gave birth to a son.
After that, Asha and some other women talked to Kavita's mother i.e. the child's grandmother and talked about buying the child from her and giving three lakh rupees in exchange for the child. Kalyugi's grandmother agreed to trade her own daughter's newborn son. After delivery, the victim was admitted to the hospital. On the other hand, the grandmother along with other people had sold the newborn for three lakh rupees.
After making a deal for the newborn for Rs 3 lakh, the grandmother was given only Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand. Asha and other accused women divided the remaining money among themselves. Those involved in buying and selling the newborn kept this fact hidden for about a week. After delivery, when the woman asked about her son in the hospital, the accused told her that he was unwell and had been admitted to the ICU in another hospital.
After this, when several days passed and the victim went home after being discharged from the hospital, the accused Sita Devi went home and told her that her child was ill and had died. Hearing this, the mother started crying for a piece of her heart. The victim asked her mother about the child's body and insisted on taking it to her. Then the woman's mother and the child's grandmother told that she had sold the newborn son to a person resident of West Bengal for three lakh rupees but she got only one lakh 70 thousand rupees. Accused Indrika Singh, Sita Devi etc. divided the remaining money among themselves.
As soon as the mother heard that her own newborn son had been traded for three lakhs, the ground slipped from under her feet. She reached Jalalpur police station crying and narrated her incident. On the complaint of the mother, the police registered a case under serious sections in the case of horse trading and arrested the accused Gorakhnath Chaubey, Poonam Gupta, Henmati Sahu, Sita Pandey, Indrika Singh and Shanti Devi and sent them to jail.
