Kharmas 2024: Fasts and festivals have importance in Hindu religion, in which the importance of many dates has a different place. While auspicious works have started after Devuthani Ekadashi, auspicious works to marriage are being done at the auspicious time. Along with this, the second round of Kharmas which is held twice a year will also come. Kharmas is going to be observed here on December, during which many religious and auspicious activities will be prohibited for a month.

Auspicious works will be prohibited from 15th December

Here according to the Hindu calendar, the second Kharmas is going to be held on 15 December 2024. Here Kharmas is celebrated at the time of Pisces Sankranti i.e. when the Sun enters Pisces. This lasts for a total of one month. During this day, during Kharmas, it will enter Sagittarius at 10.19 am. It ends after Sun God enters Capricorn i.e. Makar Sankranti.

What to do and what not to do during Kharmas

Here, doing many tasks during Kharmas is considered very auspicious, hence many tasks should not be done even by mistake.

What to do in Kharmas-

1- There is a rule to worship Lord Sun during this date. For this, you should wake up every morning, take sun bath, offer Arghya to the Sun God and chant mantras.
2- Chanting, penance, charity etc. are done during Kharmas. By worshiping in this, all kinds of troubles end and you get auspicious results.
3- Bathing in holy rivers during this period has special significance.

What not to do in Kharmas

During this time, Khar i.e. donkeys are added to the chariot of Sun God, due to which their speed slows down, hence it is called Kharmas. This time is considered to give inauspicious results, therefore, during Kharmas, one should not start any auspicious work like house warming, marriage, engagement, mundan, upanayana rites etc. along with any new work or business.

Benefits of worshiping

Here during Kharmas, apart from worship, there are rules for giving donations. By doing this your good fortune increases. Apart from this, do special puja during Kharmas and feed food to Brahmins, by doing this one gets rid of all the defects. Feed green grass to the cow in Kharmas and offer puja material in the temple. It is said that this keeps the blessings of Sun God.
