Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan agreed, stressing the value of money in raising her own children.
In a conversation with Kareena on her talk show What Women Want, Neena said, "I have always been very particular about my money because we were taught since childhood that money can't buy you everything. I have learnt money can buy you everything. Money can buy you love also. So, don't teach the wrong things to children."
Kareena applauded Neena for her perspective, adding, "This is what I tell Karishma (Kapoor) or Saif (Ali Khan) or I want to even tell my kids." Kareena is a mother of two sons, Taimur and Jeh.
Neena, who is married to New Delhi-based chartered accountant Vivek Mehra, also shared that while she trusts him, "I want my money; it is very important for me. Though my husband is very nice, he does a lot for me. I have no doubts about him. I believe in him. I have full faith in him. Still, I want my money in the bank. I want my security. He tells me that he is there for me and I don't need to do FDs. He is a CA and he tells me, 'FD is the stupidest thing you can do since it doesn't give you enough return,' but I tell him it gives me peace of mind," Neena said.
In a previous conversation with Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast, Neena also spoke out against what she termed "faltu feminism," advocating for financial independence over gender equality rhetoric.
"I want to say that it's not necessary to believe in 'faltu feminism' or the idea that 'women are equal to men.' Instead, focus on achieving financial independence and putting attention to your work. If you're a housewife, don't look down on itâit's an important role. Boost your self-esteem and don't think of yourself as small. That's the main message I want to convey."
On the work front, Neena Gupta was recently seen in the Disney+ Hotstar series 1000 Babies.
