JioCinema the OTT streaming service owned by Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries recently completed its merger of Walt Disneys Hotstar platform birthing a new entity known as JioStar. Following the merger the Jio-Disney joint venture announced subscription plans for its various entertainment offering on its new website Jiostar.com
The subscriptions or packs which are listed on the Jiostar.com website are divided into Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) with the cheapest pack priced at just Rs 15 per month. Reliance Jios JioCinema recently merged with Walt Disney-owned Disney HotStar with Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries -- the parent company of Reliance Jio-- acquiring a major 46.82% stake in the new joint OTT platform Jiostar.com. Disney Hotstar has a 36.84% stake while Viacom18 owns the remaining 16.34% in the venture.
Mukesh Ambanis wife Nita Ambani is the chairperson of the new platform which aims to bring quality OTT content to India at an affordable price according to its vice chairperson Uday Shankar.
