November 18, New Delhi Alice Capsey, an all-rounder, has been called up to the England women’s T20I team for the next South Africa trip. Before playing a four-day Test match during the trip, which runs from November 24 to December 18, England will play three Twenty20 matches and as many One-Day Internationals.

Alice, 20, will now join the T20I team, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), because of a few minor injury worries in the squad. It also said that Alice, who has been a member of the Melbourne Renegades in the current Women’s Big Bash League, would go to South Africa on Monday to play for England.

After a three-inning slide in form at this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup, when England lost in the group stage, Alice was first left out of the T20I team. The T20I team replaced her with all-rounder Paige Scholfield, who earned her senior international debut the bilateral series in Ireland.

Alice was pushed to establish consistency with the bat during her time away from the T20I team, according to head coach Jon Lewis, who made the announcement of the teams at the time. “I am aware of Alice’s strong will and her unwavering determination to become the best player she can be.”

“I firmly believe that this will eventually be a line in the sand for her to look back on and admit, ‘Actually, I just need to adjust my game and play a little more consistently when I pull on an England shirt.'”

“There is no doubt in my mind that over time she will play lots and lots of games for England in all formats of the game, but at the moment she is just trending in the wrong direction and we need to have a little reset, to be honest.”

On November 24, England plays South Africa in East London to start their three-match T20I series. On November 27 and 30, respectively, they play Benoni and East London.

Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Sarah Glenn, Bess Heath, Amy Jones, Freya Kemp, Paige Scholfield, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Linsey Smith, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Alice Capsey, Heather Knight (captain), and Lauren Bell comprise the England Women’s T20I team.
