Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Brazil on a two-day visit, where he is attending the G20 summit. This visit is expected to bring new strength to the cooperation and partnership between the two countries. Leonardo Ananda Gomes, Executive Director of India-Brazil Chamber of Commerce, has praised the trade relations between the two countries and said that there is immense potential to increase it. At present the annual trade between India and Brazil is 15 billion dollars.
Praising the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leonardo Gomes said that Prime Minister Modi, along with Brazilian President Lula da Silva, is building a strong partnership between the two countries. He said that we believe that trade between India and Brazil can be increased manifold. There is scope for extensive cooperation between the two countries in sectors like energy, agriculture, technology and medicine. If a deal is made for these sectors then both the countries will benefit from it.
Praising the recent G20 conference held in India, Gomes described it as the best conference so far. He said that the way India organized the conference is an example for other countries. We are also trying to organize a similar event in Brazil by taking inspiration from India.
The G20 summit is being held in Brazil on 18-19 November, in which many global leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden are participating. During this time, everyone's eyes are also on the bilateral meetings of Prime Minister Modi.
As a Troika member of the G20 summit, India has played an important role in guiding Brazil's agenda. By focusing on the issues of the Global South, Brazil can give priority to the interests of developing countries in this conference. India has reiterated its commitment to ensure progress on the issues decided during the G20 summit in Delhi.
