Nikkhil Arya , who is known for TV shows like Kesar, Kasturi, Tere liye and Kumkum Bhagya among others, has always wanted to do something that keeps him connected to his roots. Born and brought up in Pune, in a neighbourhood filled with Marathi cinema tic stalwarts, Nikkhil says the first seeds of art and acting were sown in him by the culture he was surrounded by. As he grew up, he wanted to be associated with Marathi cinema, but somehow it didn't happen.

In his 20-year acting career, the model-turned actor has mostly associated with Hindi plays and TV shows. He shares, "I was flowing with the tide and Hindi offers kept coming, which kept me busy. Of course I was waiting for an interesting project in Marathi to come my way; it's almost like my second language."

Nikkhil is glad that he is finally doing a Marathi film; he will be seen in the upcoming movie Gulaabi . Elaborating on that, he says, "It almost feels like a ghar wapsi! lI must admit I had been offered a few roles which didn't excite me much. Then a friend of mine narrated this script and I really thought I could fit into it well and do justice to it. I call it a very special appearance in what is essentially the journey of three women in different stages of their lives."

A majority of his scenes in the film are with actress Mrinal Kulkarni . Ask him about his shooting experience and he says, "The entire cast and crew was wonderful, but it was a treat working with Mrinalji who really made me feel comfortable while sharing some valuable insights regarding the film and in general. It's always a pleasure working with someone as experienced as her."

Nikkhil believes this a great time for actors with different mediums opening up. "I wouldn't want to restrict myself to any one medium. I want to do interesting work in TV shows, web series and films," says the versatile actor.
