South Western Railway (SWR) held a review meeting with representatives of JSW, chaired by Arvind Srivastava, General Manager, SWR, to address critical issues related to the movement of iron ore, coal, and other materials. The meeting focused on increasing rail share in freight transportation, particularly in light of the expansion of steel industries.
Arvind Srivastava highlighted that freight transportation constitutes a major portion of SWR's earnings, with JSW playing a significant role in this sector. He elaborated on the infrastructure developments undertaken by SWR to enhance mobility and improve transportation capacity. Srivastava urged JSW to further increase their loading and unloading activities over the next four months to surpass the set earnings targets. He also assured full support from SWR to facilitate smoother goods movement.
The meeting covered various key topics, including increasing loading and unloading capacity, resolving operational constraints, yard remodeling, stabling yard optimization, TXR examination points, and addressing level crossing gates. Both SWR and JSW officials exchanged valuable suggestions aimed at improving operational efficiency and capacity enhancement.
SWR officials proposed constructing four Road Under Bridges (RUBs) to ensure uninterrupted rake movement. JSW representatives agreed to implement these projects at the earliest.
JSW also shared their future expansion plans and provided updates on ongoing developmental projects, including work at Daroji railway station, signaling unit upgrades, and yard remodeling initiatives. JSW representatives also revealed that they are working on an advanced project leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to enhance operational efficiency.
Expressing their gratitude, JSW representatives thanked SWR for their continued support in ensuring efficient freight movement. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both organizations to collaboratively enhance freight transportation and support industrial growth in the region.
Additional General Manager, K. S. Jain, Principal Chief Engineer, C.M. Gupta, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Satya Prakash Shastri, Principal Chief Operating Manager, B. Prashanth Kumar, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Ishaq Khan, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi Harsh Khare, and other Senior Officers form Headquarters and Hubballi Division attended the meeting.
