The noise of campaigning for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand stopped on Sunday evening. On the last day of campaigning, the leaders of political parties had given their full strength. Rallies and public meetings continued from Ranchi to Mumbai. Voting will be held on 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra in a single phase on November 20. At the same time, voting on 38 seats in the second phase in Jharkhand will also take place on November 20, while the results will be revealed together on November 23.
The challenge before the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra is to save the government. This alliance includes BJP, Shinde faction's Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP. The main competition of Mahayuti is with the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi alliance. Along with Congress, Aghadi has Sharad Pawar's NCP and Uddhav Thackeray faction's Shiv Sena. Apart from this, many small and alliance partner parties are also in the fray, which will undergo the litmus test on November 20.
Talking about the seat sharing formula of Mahayuti in Maharashtra, BJP has the maximum number of seats. Out of 288 seats in the state, BJP alone is contesting on 148 seats. At the same time, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's party Shiv Sena is contesting on 80 seats and Ajit Pawar faction's NCP is contesting on 52 seats. The remaining seats have been given to the allies included in the alliance. This time a total of 4 thousand 136 candidates are in the fray in Maharashtra elections.
During the assembly election campaign, a heated clash was witnessed between the ruling party and the opposition party. Especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held campaign meetings in the entire state. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, Devendra Fadnavis held meetings across the state. Shiv Sena Thackeray group leader Uddhav Thackeray also held meetings across the state. Sharad Pawar was very aggressive in this election. At the age of 83, he campaigned vigorously in the entire state.
The most special thing in this election was that on the last day of campaign, sharp criticism and comments were seen among the Thackeray brothers. Raj Thackeray mentioned Uddhav Thackeray as a traitor for the first time. Uddhav Thackeray also responded to this criticism of Raj Thackeray. Uddhav Thackeray called Raj Thackeray's party Gujarat Navnirman Sena.
On the other hand, the political fight in Jharkhand has also become quite interesting. On the last day of the campaign, many big leaders of BJP held a public meeting. Voting for the second phase in the state will be held on 38 seats on November 20. Most of these seats are from tribal areas. In the second phase of elections, the fate of many big leaders including the Soren family, former CM Babulal Marandi and two former Deputy CMs is at stake. A total of 528 candidates are in the fray in this round.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had reached both the states on the last day of election campaign. First he held a press conference in Maharashtra and targeted the Modi government. Apart from this, attempts were made to solve political equations by making fun of PM Modi's slogan of 'If we are one then we are safe'. After this he reached Jharkhand, where he spoke to the media in Ranchi. He said that BJP's anti-Jharkhand and anti-tribal mentality becomes clear from the fact that they have not paid Rs 1.36 lakh crore of Jharkhand's dues. This money has to be spent on public education, health and development.
The campaign for the by-elections on 9 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh has also stopped. The main fight in the by-election is between BJP, Samajwadi Party and BSP. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself was handling the election campaign on behalf of BJP. On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav from SP was seen solving political equations. The 9 seats in UP where by-elections are being held include the seats of Katehari, Karhal, Meerapur, Ghaziabad, Majhawan, Sisamau, Khair, Phulpur and Kundarki.
