Devdutt Padikkal, a top-order batsman, is been included in the Indian team’s playing XI as a backup for the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After a string of injury issues surfaced in the Indian squad, Devdutt Padikkal, who can begin the innings or even bat at number three, was requested to remain in Australia.
Devdutt Padikkal recently participated in two four-day matches against Australia A while playing for the India A team, which was captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
However, Padikkal did not have a very good performance in the four-day match between Australia and India, scoring 36, 88, 26, 1 in the four innings.
Karnataka’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad included Devdutt Padikkal, who is now the Indian team’s backup. Padikkal, KL Rahul, or Abhimanyu Easwaran might be included in the starting lineup in place of Rohit Sharma, who is expected to miss the first Test because of family obligations, and Shubman Gill, who is recovering from a thumb fracture.
Easwaran, incidentally, was also a member of the India A team, and the just finished trip revealed his vulnerability against the moving ball. Nevertheless, Padikkal has the advantage to advance to the first choice backup because of his little impact.
at his Test debut against England this year at Dharamsala, Devdutt Padikkal batted at number four and scored 65.
B Sai Sudarshan is also involved, in addition to Padikkal. As a backup for the Indian squad, he scored a century at Mackay in the first game.
Because they are used to Australian circumstances, the two have been invited to remain.
In addition to playing three ODIs against South Africa last year and one T20I against Zimbabwe in July of this year, Sudharsan has not yet made his Test debut.
