The department has said that strict action will be taken against those who steal electricity in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. To stop Katia connections, temporary connections have been started by the department. An official said that information has been received that electricity is being stolen from Katiya connection during the wedding ceremony. Electricity department officials said that those involved in theft may have to go to jail. During wedding ceremonies, people use electricity by hanging string.

Electricity Distribution Division Ghazipur City Executive Engineer Ashish Sharma said that the wedding season has started from the month of November. In which weddings are being organized from guest houses, lawns, hotels, marriage halls and other places. In the absence of information, electricity is used directly by connecting the connections. Due to which the electricity department is incurring a loss of lakhs. In such a situation, the department has now decided to take action and now such people may have to pay a fine of lakhs of rupees or may even go to jail.

Will have to take temporary connection

He told that the department has made arrangements to make temporary connection for one day. In which small marriage halls or hotels can get 40 kilowatt electricity connection for one day by depositing Rs 8750 with the cashier in the office. Those having big lawns or marriage halls can take a 50 KW connection, for which a fee of Rs 9750 can be deposited. To get the connection, only marriage card and an ID card will be required.

Action will be taken against electricity theft

For one day electricity connection, all SDOs and JEs have been instructed to check all marriage halls, lawns and hotels on the wedding day. If anyone is found stealing electricity without a temporary connection, the line should be immediately disconnected and an FIR should be lodged against the people concerned. If people are found stealing electricity without a temporary connection, the wedding ceremony may have to be celebrated in the dark and the people concerned may also have to go to jail.

After such orders coming from the Electricity Department, now there is panic among the people whose sons and daughters are getting married or those who are planning marriages. All those people are running a race against the electricity department and officials. So that their sons and daughters do not have to get married in darkness.
