Ryan Gravenberch has truly come into his own at Liverpool, much to the delight of, who always had faith in his potential.
It's been a difficult journey for the Dutch midfielder, who had a mixed first season with the Reds following his move from Bayern Munich, featuring 38 times across all competitions during what turned out to be Jurgen Klopp's last campaign at the helm.
Injuries and inconsistent performances meant he struggled to cement a regular spot in Klopp's lineup, but arrival marked a turning point. The former Feyenoord manager had a clear vision for , slotting him into the deepest midfield role where he's excelled in disrupting opposition plays and initiating Liverpool's attacks.
Now 22, Gravenberch is arguably the Premier League's standout midfielder this term. Dutch colleague Gakpo has been particularly impressed. He recently shared with Men in Blazers
"We [the Dutchmen at Liverpool] knew Ryan already from the Eredivisie when he played at Ajax, and I think everybody knew already that he is this good," said Gakpo.
"After, he made a move to Bayern Munich and maybe he didn't play that much over there, but still everybody in Holland knew how good he could be when he was playing.
"And I think maybe the manager also knew this. At the beginning of the season he put him in a slightly different position but he gave him the confidence to play there."
Gravenberch's impressive run as a starter for Liverpool this season in the Premier League and his full participation in the Champions League have been lauded by Gakpo: "Ryan showed his quality at that position, grabbed his chance as well and turned out to be a good match. He is playing outstandingly for us this season."
