Ghaziabad: A shocking double murder took place in Ghaziabad, where a 23-year-old man strangled his sister-in-law and her three-month-old daughter at their home. Police reported on Tuesday that the accused, Zeeshan, has been arrested.
A detailed investigation is underway but the initial investigation revealed Zeeshan committed the crime to settle old disputes. He was reportedly angry over a past incident where Shaheen Parveen's cousin's brother had humiliated him during a fight about a house construction in Bihar. He also believed Shaheen influenced his brother, Burhan, to deny him ₹30,000, which he needed for a work visa to Dubai.
The victims were identified as 34-year-old Shaheen Parveen and her baby daughter Aafiya. Another daughter, three-and-a-half-year-old Anbiya, managed to escape after witnessing the murders.
The incident occurred on Monday in Bamheta village, under the Wave City police station area. According to DCP Surendranath Tripathi, Zeeshan first strangled Shaheen using a *dupatta* in front of her two children. He then killed Aafiya with his hands. "Three-and-a-half-year-old Anbiya ran away, crying. Zeeshan would have killed her too had she stayed in the room," the DCP said.
Explaining the motive, Tripathi added, "Two months ago, Shaheen’s cousin brother Afroz humiliated Zeeshan and pulled him by the collar during a dispute. The accused wanted revenge. Besides, he wanted ₹30,000 for a Dubai visa and believed Shaheen convinced his brother not to give him the money."
After committing the murders, Zeeshan fled to Noida, where he snatched a woman’s mobile phone to call Burhan and issue a death threat.
Police arrested Zeeshan on Tuesday while he was returning to Ghaziabad. A detailed investigation is ongoing.
