According to an official statement, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has successfully freed seven Indian fishermen who were captured by a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) vessel close to the India-Pakistan Maritime Boundary.
An Indian fishing boat (IFB) operating close to the No-Fishing Zone (NFZ) called in distress to an ICG ship on patrol at about 1530 hours on November 17. The call said that seven Indian crew members had been arrested when a PMSA warship detained another Indian fishing vessel, *Kal Bhairav*. According to the announcement, the ICG ship promptly responded by traveling at full speed to the reported position.
The ICG ship stopped the PMSA vessel and convinced the crew to free the Indian fishermen despite their attempts to flee. The seven fisherman were safely rescued by the ICG ship, and their health was determined to be stable. The announcement further said that the Indian fishing vessel *Kal Bhairav* was reportedly damaged and sank during the event.
In order to investigate the events leading up to the tragedy and the following rescue effort, a joint inquiry comprising the ICG, state police, intelligence services, and fishery authorities was launched when the ICG ship returned to Okha Harbour on November 18.
According to the announcement, this successful endeavor demonstrates the ICG’s unwavering will to protect the Indian maritime community and highlights its ongoing commitment to defending the rights and safety of Indian fishermen at sea.
